Every second, the Sun converts 657 million tons of hydrogen into helium.
That powerhouse makes wind and weather on Earth, shapes our landscapes and lets life live on it.
It took the light 8 minutes to travel the 150 million kilometres (93 206 000 miles) to our 1000mm lens.

Giant red sun rises behind silhouette of gum tree.

Among our landscapes and photos of nature you will find some animal photography.
We hope, over time, to cover much more.
A destination for superb nature photography is, of course: http://www.nationalgeographic.com/

Uluru – Kata Tjuta National Park.
Inscribed on the World Heritage List since 1987 for its unique natural and cultural values.
The park represents a cross section of central Australia’s arid ecosystem. It is inhabited by one of the few hunting and gathering cultures remaining in the world.
For details see:
http://whc.unesco.org/en/list/447
Typical Australian outback setting of low scrub. Looking at Kata Tjuta's sculpted rock formations glowing in red hues of sunrise. Unusual eyecatching angle.
KATA TJUTA (the Olgas)

Sunrise - Sunset; one day in the life of ULURU (Ayers Rock)
Uluru’s famous red glo is helped by the countless tiny quartz particles in the rock. They hold a  mirror to the sun.
A little haze helps. It filters out the short wave of the spectrum, the blues, so the rock can bathe in, and reflect, mainly red.
